The extent of Switzerland's biggest Commune makes room for many contrasts. Vertiginous pics separate the still-glowing summits from the villages gathered modestly around church towers, already in shadows... Throughout the long winter, shafts of light flood Verbier with sunshine while Champsec is submerged in hoarfrost... And in the continuing seasonal round, mountain men rub shoulders with visitors from far and wide.
At the height of the tourist season, time hovers motionless over the square of Sarreyer while in flaps frenziedly over Verbier. And two worlds that slide together for the space of a vacation return to their separate lives.
